ChatGPT Extension Comparison: AI Workspace vs Everyone

ChatGPT extension comparison — a glowing AI Workspace cube holding a trophy on a podium while competitor extensions sulk below

Let's get the disclaimer out of the way: I'm Christophe, I build AI Workspace, and this ChatGPT extension comparison is biased. Gloriously, unapologetically biased. But biased doesn't mean made up. Every competitor fact below comes from their own websites, checked on October 25, 2026, and every claim about AI Workspace comes from reading our own source code — including the parts that don't make us look good. Then I scored the categories that actually matter. Spoiler: we won. Repeatedly.

ChatGPT extension comparison — a glowing AI Workspace cube holding a trophy on a podium while competitor extensions sulk below

TL;DR

AI Workspace takes 6 of 7 rounds against Superpower ChatGPT, AI Toolbox (formerly ChatGPT Toolbox), GPT Master and Sider. It has the deepest export of the bunch (PDF with 30 print themes and real math rendering, Markdown, JSON, TXT, bulk ZIP and whole-Project export), the only prompt manager whose variables become real forms (dropdowns, sliders, dates, checkboxes, file uploads, conditional fields, regex validation), the only true isolated workspaces, AES-256 encrypted vaults, and the only thread trimming for laggy chats — all for $59/year or a $99 lifetime that covers ChatGPT, Claude and Grok. The round we lose? Platform reach: AI Toolbox supports Gemini and we don't. We're biased, not blind.

Meet the contenders

Five extensions enter the ring. To be fair (briefly, then I'll stop), each competitor is genuinely good at something:

  • Superpower ChatGPT — the veteran. Huge toolset: folders, prompt chains, a tree map, highlights, a message queue, voice mode, audio export, an ad blocker, and a prompt Showcase marketplace. Claims 400K+ users. ChatGPT only.
  • AI Toolbox (formerly ChatGPT Toolbox) — the multi-platform one. Modules for ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok, cross-device sync, and long prompt chains. Claims 40,000+ users.
  • GPT Master — the polished minimalist. Folders, bookmarks, minimap, Side Chat, a prompt optimizer, 14 interface languages. ChatGPT only.
  • Sider — the giant. A multi-model AI sidebar that brings its own models on a credit system. Different sport, but people ask, so it's here.
  • AI Workspace — the one writing this article. You may have guessed how this ends.

Competitor data from their official homepages, feature and pricing pages, checked October 25, 2026. "Not listed" means we couldn't find it on their site, not that it can't exist — products change, so confirm on their pages. Sider isn't in the table because its site blocked our checks; more on Sider below.

Round 1: The best PDF and Markdown export for ChatGPT

ChatGPT conversation exported to a formatted PDF report with a table, code block and formula, next to a Markdown file

Everyone in this category says "export." Most of them mean "here's a text file, good luck." Here's what AI Workspace actually does when you hit export — I checked the code, line by line, so you don't have to:

  • Four formats: PDF, Markdown, JSON (the full raw conversation object — perfect for archiving or feeding into your own tools) and clean plain text with the Markdown stripped out.
  • Two ways to make a PDF. A one-click direct PDF download with coloured "You / Assistant" labels, styled headings, real tables with a header row and striped rows, and your images — generated and uploaded — embedded in the page. Or a print view where you pick from 30 visual themes (Professional Blue, Dark Minimal, Clean Terminal, Vintage Newspaper and more), hide your own messages or the AI's, and save a PDF that looks designed instead of dumped.
  • Math that's actually math. The print view renders formulas with KaTeX, so the quadratic formula looks like the quadratic formula instead of a wall of backslashes. If you study, teach or work with data, you know how rare that is.
  • Markdown that survives. Your code fences keep their language tags, tables stay tables, LaTeX stays intact — it drops straight into Obsidian, Notion, GitHub or anything that speaks CommonMark.
  • Bulk, not one-by-one. Select a stack of chats and get one ZIP. Export an entire ChatGPT Project in one go. Or export everything in a date range — archived chats included — sorted into neat one-folder-per-day archives, in several formats at once.

Now the competition. Superpower ChatGPT is strong here — PDF, Markdown, JSON and Text, plus bulk export of folders and selected messages on Pro; free users get "single-chat basics." AI Toolbox gives free users unlimited single-chat TXT; Markdown, JSON, PDF and ZIP are paid (credit where due: their Markdown adds YAML front matter for Obsidian, which is a nice touch). GPT Master's export page lists single-chat PDF, HTML and Markdown, while its own FAQ says it "focuses on organizing… rather than exporting." Their words, not mine.

Nobody else lists themed PDFs. Nobody else lists rendered math. Nobody else exports a whole ChatGPT Project as a ZIP. Round 1: AI Workspace. It wasn't close.

Honesty corner: exporting is part of Pro, the direct PDF engine is optimized for Latin-script text (use the print view for other alphabets), and export currently works on ChatGPT conversations.

Round 2: The best prompt manager

Prompt manager — organized prompt folders with one prompt card opening into a form with a dropdown, slider, checkbox, date picker and file upload

Here's the thing about prompt managers: every one of them can save a prompt. A notes app can save a prompt. The question is what happens when you use it. In most tools, a template is a block of text with {{placeholders}} you edit by hand. In AI Workspace, a template becomes a form:

  • {{tone:dropdown(formal,casual,default=formal)}} — a dropdown with a default
  • {{length:slider(100,1000)}} — a slider
  • {{deadline:date}} and {{include_sources:checkbox}} — a date picker and a checkbox
  • {{cv:file}} — a file upload that gets attached to your message
  • Required (*) and optional (?) fields, help text, regex validation with your own error message, fields that only appear :if(...) another field has a certain value, and repeaters like {{items[]:{name, price}}} for lists of anything

That's not a prompt library. That's a tiny app builder for your best prompts. Add the rest — type / in ChatGPT to search and insert any prompt instantly, nested categories, tags, favorites and pins, prompt chains that run steps in sequence, a Prompt Optimizer that shows your original and improved prompt side by side (and keeps your variables intact), version history, and automatic capture of the last 200 prompts you sent so you can save a good one after the fact. Your library lives in a sidebar on ChatGPT, Claude and Grok. The whole system is explained in our prompt management guide.

The competition, fairly: Superpower ChatGPT has a capable prompt manager — chains (2 steps free), a "/" quick open, an optimizer — but its "dynamic variables," the optimizer, and prompt import/export are Pro-only, and it doesn't document typed fields. AI Toolbox uses // to insert prompts, has {{placeholder}} variables filled at insert time, and genuinely long chains (up to 10 steps on ChatGPT, 25 elsewhere) — impressive, though no optimizer is listed. GPT Master inserts prompts with // and has an optimizer, but its prompts aren't organized into folders and no chains are mentioned.

"Powerful productivity extension... intuitive sidebar... prompt manager... significantly improves productivity and overall AI interaction."

Dropdowns beat placeholders. Sliders beat placeholders. File uploads definitely beat placeholders. Round 2: AI Workspace.

Round 3: Organization — folders are not workspaces

Every competitor here has folders. Superpower even has subfolders, auto-folders and bulk actions; AI Toolbox has smart tags; GPT Master has drag-and-drop folders and colour labels. Lovely. But folders inside one big shared space are still one big shared space.

AI Workspace gives you isolated workspaces: Client A, Client B, Personal, Thesis — each with its own chats, folders and context, completely separated. Switch workspace and everything else disappears. On top of that: unlimited nested folders, multi-colour tags, pins, bulk delete/archive/move, auto-delete rules, and Custom GPT conversations that sort themselves into folders. None of the three competitors offers separate workspaces. Not one. Our complete guide to ChatGPT workspaces explains why this matters if you juggle clients.

Round 3: AI Workspace. By forfeit, honestly.

Round 4: Privacy and security

Good news for everyone: this is a privacy-conscious category. Superpower calls itself "local-first by design." GPT Master keeps your folder structure in Chrome storage. AI Toolbox keeps conversation content in your browser, though folders, prompts and tags sync to its cloud (encrypted at rest), with an option to keep prompts on-device.

AI Workspace is local-first with zero telemetry — and then goes one step further with AES-256 encrypted vaults for sensitive workspaces, plus auto-lock. If your chats contain client contracts, medical notes or code you're not allowed to leak, "stored locally" is good; "stored locally and encrypted" is better. None of the others lists encrypted workspaces. (Full transparency: Pro AI features like the optimizer and Side Chat do send the text you choose to our backend to get an answer — your library and history don't.) More on why this matters in why local privacy matters for AI.

Round 4: AI Workspace.

Round 5: Performance — the round nobody else showed up for

You know the moment: a conversation hits 200 messages and ChatGPT starts scrolling like it's running on a potato. Superpower has a tree map and minimap, GPT Master has a minimap — useful for navigating, but neither lists anything that makes the page itself faster.

AI Workspace's Smart Thread Trimming hides older messages from the page (without deleting anything) — 73% less memory and 80% faster scrolling in our long-conversation tests. Add a Smart Conversation Outline to jump to any message, and Tangent View, an interactive graph of every branch in your conversation.

Round 5: AI Workspace. The other corners were empty.

Round 6: Platforms — the one we lose

I promised biased, not dishonest. AI Toolbox supports ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok. AI Workspace covers ChatGPT, Claude and Grok — no Gemini. Superpower and GPT Master are ChatGPT-only, so they lose this round harder than we do. Small consolation: Toolbox bills every platform as a separate module, while one AI Workspace plan covers all three of ours. Still: Round 6: AI Toolbox. Enjoy it. Frame it.

Round 7: Price — the knockout

AI Workspace Superpower ChatGPT AI Toolbox
Monthly $6.99 $15 $9.99 per module
Yearly $59 (all 3 platforms) $120 $59 per module ($177 for ChatGPT + Claude + Grok)
Lifetime $99 all platforms (launch deal, reg. $299) Not offered $99 per module / $199 all access

Read that yearly row again. AI Toolbox charges $59/year for one platform. AI Workspace charges $59/year for ChatGPT, Claude and Grok — same price, three times the coverage. Monthly? $6.99 versus $9.99 per module versus $15. And lifetime is a massacre: $99 for everything versus $199 at Toolbox and "keep paying $120 every year, forever" at Superpower. GPT Master doesn't publish pricing. The full breakdown, with the three-year math, lives in our ChatGPT extension pricing comparison. Round 7: AI Workspace. Knockout.

What about Sider?

Sider is a different animal: a multi-model AI sidebar that brings its own models and bills you in credits (its plans now appear to be Lite, Pro and Max). It's built to give you another AI to talk to, not to organize, export and supercharge the ChatGPT, Claude and Grok accounts you already pay for. Its website blocked our automated checks, so I can't verify its export or prompt features — see sider.ai for the current details. If you want one more chatbot, Sider is a good one. If you want your existing chats to stop being a mess, that's our job.

Where the competitors genuinely win

Because an article where we win everything would be a brochure, here's the honest list:

  • Gemini: only AI Toolbox supports it.
  • Audio and extras: Superpower has voice mode, audio export, an ad blocker and a prompt marketplace. We don't.
  • Cross-device sync: AI Toolbox syncs folders and prompts across devices; we're local-first by design.
  • Languages: GPT Master ships 14 interface languages and AI Toolbox 10; we speak English, Dutch and French.
  • Platform reach of power features: our "/" prompt menu, optimizer and export currently run on ChatGPT; on Claude and Grok you get the prompt library sidebar and organization.

If one of those is a dealbreaker, pick that tool — seriously. For everything else, keep reading the scoreboard. For a calmer, less biased overview of the whole market, see our best ChatGPT Chrome extensions guide, or the head-to-heads against Superpower ChatGPT and GPT Master.

FAQ

Which ChatGPT extension has the best PDF export?

Biased answer, factual reasons: AI Workspace. It offers a direct PDF download with tables and embedded images, plus a print view with 30 themes and KaTeX-rendered math — something none of the competitors list. It also exports Markdown, JSON and TXT, in bulk as a ZIP or per ChatGPT Project.

Which extension is the best prompt manager for ChatGPT?

AI Workspace, because its templates turn into forms: dropdowns, sliders, date pickers, checkboxes, file uploads, conditional fields and validated inputs. Add "/" insertion, chains, an optimizer, version history and automatic capture of your last 200 prompts.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Superpower ChatGPT?

Yes. Superpower costs $15/month or $120/year with no lifetime plan (checked October 25, 2026). AI Workspace costs $6.99/month, $59/year ($4.92/month), or $99 once for lifetime access covering ChatGPT, Claude and Grok.

Does AI Workspace support Gemini?

Not today. AI Workspace supports ChatGPT, Claude and Grok. If Gemini is your main tool, AI Toolbox is the extension that covers it.

Is this comparison objective?

No — I build AI Workspace and the title says "vs Everyone." What it is, is checkable: competitor facts come from their official pages (checked October 25, 2026) and our claims come from our own code. Prices and features change, so confirm on each product's site before you buy.

Final verdict

Seven rounds. Six wins. The best PDF and Markdown export, the most powerful prompt manager, the only real workspaces, the only encrypted vaults, the only fix for laggy chats, and the lowest all-platform lifetime price. The one loss is Gemini — and we'll take that trophy home too, one day. Until then, the belt stays here.
